Sandy River Guide Service
Captin
Join Sandy River Guide Service for an unforgettable fishing trip. Captain Barry Buckland lives off the land and catches fish that others might never see during their lifetime.
Step on board his 17' ClackaCraft drift boat, a classic vessel that can have you and 2 of your fishing friends on board. The fishfinder, paired with the captain's extensive knowledge, will get you to the fishing grounds before you know it.
The day will be spent targeting Steelhead, Coho Salmon, and Chinook Salmon, surrounded by Oregon's beautiful scenery. You'll use a range of techniques, depending on your experience level, from trolling to jigging. Even the little ones will enjoy this trip, getting back to nature and away from the WiFi.
All rods and reels are provided for the day. The gear won't let you down when reeling in your trophy catch. Food and drink for the day will also be supplied. Please purchase a fishing license before the trip from Oregon's Department of Fish and Wildlife Office – if you've never purchased a license before, your captain is happy to answer any questions about this. For the species that can be kept (the captain will let you know which ones are in season) he will happily fillet them for you.

My son, son-in-law and I had a wonderful time on the Sandy River with Captain Barry as our guide. All gear was provided. Captain Barry knows the river like the back of his hand. He was a very patient teacher and very knoweldgeable about the current fishing conditions in the river. He was entertaining and shared a wealth of information about the state and local area. We caught several salmon. Captain Barry even filleted one of the fish we kept. I strongly recommend chartering with Captain Barry as I will again the next time I am in the area.
I do a lot of Bass fishing in my home state of Iowa. I have never caught anything larger than 5 pounds. After just a few hours with Barry, I landed a 8+ pound Silver Coho Salmon! His expertise and experience on the river was astounding! I learned so much from him! I definitely recommend this to anyone visiting this area. Aside from the great fishing opportunity, there are also breathtaking landscapes to see on the trip.

Chris and I went on an excellent guided fishing adventure today with Captain Barry Buckland of Sandy River Guide Service. We didn’t catch what we were hoping for (Chinook Salmon or Steelhead) - Chris caught a carp and threw it back. But we learned so much and had such a wonderful time! Captain Barry was extremely knowledgeable and taught us which type of poles, reels, line, and bait to use, how to cast, where the fishing holes in the river are, and lots more. We plan to do it again soon! https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1H17fd7C9p/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Barry was a great teacher! We wanted to learn how to fish and we learned so much! He made it easy for us. Loved the boat, standing and sitting were super comfortable! He knew his stuff, the fishing, the fish, the water! My husbsnd caught two Chinook and I reeled in a Coho! Fish were jumping! Plus, it was a gorgeous day! ☀️👍

Captain Barry was awesome! His knowledge, patience and attentiveness was refreshing. And the 10 lb. steelhead was not too shabby either, a real beauty! If you have been fishing for years or a beginner, you will learn something new from Barry. Worth every penny. Give it a try! You won’t regret it!! Thanks Cappie for a wonderful day on Sandy River. We appreciate you! Best Anniversary gift ever! Hope our paths meet again! Take care! (:

The river was a bit muddy, but we still had an amazing time. We learned quite a bit. Our guide was very hospitable, had drinks and snacks available to us and was very kind. We had a great time a will be back.

Captain Barry obviously knew this stretch of River well and was patient and instuctive with my 8 year old son. Unfortunately, we are not familiar with this River and booked between runs, so I believe it would’ve been a fluke if we’d caught a fish or two. If we’d been able to contact Barry directly before booking we definitely would not have Boole at this time. It was a nice but expensive float down the river.

Had a fantastic time with my Daughter and nephew, caught one really great chinook but couldn’t keep because of native. It was fun!!

We had a great time catching fish with Barry. He made it enjoyable and fun!
