The Isle of Palms is placed between two excellent regions for fishing and observing nature – the Atlantic Ocean and Gray Bay. These waters are some of the most biodiverse ones you can find in South Carolina and on the eastern coast of the US. Barrier Island Fishing Charters is poised to put you on the hottest bite and to show you the gorgeous nature that are the waters of the Isle of Palms!

Climb aboard their 24 foot Kenner bay boat, capable of holding up to 6 anglers fishing at the same time in comfort. She's powered by a single Yamaha engine with 250 HP. There's a livewell on board to ensure your bait stays spry and lively. A wireless trolling motor is available as well, so you don't spook the fish and have the best chance of getting that dream catch.

Your guide and instructor on this journey will be Captain Shane Ziegler. You'll be in very good hands with him, as he has over two decades of guiding fishing charters and he's keen to both put you on the bite and to show you the natural wonders of the area. You can expect to target a variety of exciting and beautiful fish that inhabit this area, such as Redfish, Black Drum, Flounders, Ladyfish, Sharks, Sheepsheads, Spotted Seatrouts, and others.

The charter will provide you will all necessary equipment. First-timers and inexperienced anglers are more than welcome as Capt. Shane loves instructing and instilling a love of all things fishing into people. Clients can keep their catch, but Barrier Island Fishing Charters encourages customers to release their catch, however, if you would like to keep enough for a meal I will be happy to fillet them for you.

    Stop looking....this is the one!

Half Day Trip on June 26, 2026 • 4 adults

Came across Barrier Island Fishing Charters while looking for an experience I could share with my son and father. I was responded to within 15 minutes of booking the charter by the Captain himself confirming the reservation and reassuring that my son would have a great time catching some salt water species. Boy did he! We caught over ten species including sting rays and sharks!! My dad couldn't make it and my wife (who hates fish) decided to go. Captain Shane was awesome, always having bait ready and did the dirty work my wife hates. She ended up with the catch of the day and we left with enough trout to share with family on our return. Shane called us by our names the whole trip and celebrated every catch we made like it was his own. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience and I couldn't have been happier with this service. If you are reading these reviews to make a decision, don't waste anymore time. This is the one!

Epic. if you haven’t, do yourself the favor and book it!

    Half Day Trip on July 22, 2026 • 3 adults • 2 children

Shane was exceptional. Departed quickly, made a quick stop to pick up some bait, fish and crab. Boys gotta learn the finer points of cast netting and snagging crabs. We were able to get our hands pretty quickly and caught a wide variety of fish. my seven and nine-year-old are fishing, fanatics, and called this their best fishing day ever. Dozens of fish, pinfish, bluefish, sea trout, red fish, fine tooth, shark, bonnet head shark, I’m sure I’m missing a couple. Shane was fantastic with the boys. Highly recommend.

    Great day on the water!

    Half Day Trip on July 23, 2026 • 5 adults • 2 children

My family booked a trip with Captain Shane, his previous reviews made it an easy choice. He did not disappoint, not only did we catch multiple species we also got the opportunity to catch our own bait, grab blue crabs with a net and learn a ton about the local ecosystem. To top the day off, we even saw a manatee. I would highly recommend Captain Shane to anyone looking for a trip near Isle of Palms. We will definitely go out with him again the next time we are in the area.

    We had a good time.

Half Day Trip on July 15, 2026 • 4 adults

We enjoyed ourselves. Capt. Joe was great! Very friendly and helpful. Answered all of our questions. Unfortunately, he can't contol what gets on or hooks and/or when. W caught nothing we could keep or eat.... but we did catch a wild menagerie! Hammerhead shark, toad fish, sea bass, red fish, several other species of shark, and an atlantic stingray. Joe had all of our bait we tried live fish, chunk and shrimp. Ther were several novices in our group. My wife had a great time. Of course she caught the biggest fish.

    Great Experience

    Half Day Trip on August 24, 2026 • 5 adults • 3 children

Our family had a great experience with Captain Shane. He was very knowledgeable and the kids loved catching their own bait to start the day. We started with the small bait as catches which led to several type of fish being caught including a bonnet head shark, redfish, toad fish, puffer fish and I’m sure I am missing others. Would highly recommend!

    July fishing trip

Half Day Trip on July 29, 2026 • 3 adults

Captain Joe was one of the best captains that I’ve had on a fishing trip. He put us on the fish. I beat the snot out of my two sons by catching 15 fish to their five and four fish. we caught a variety of fish. Reds, sharks, sheephead, and others. would definitely recommend going again.

    Great time had by all!

Half Day Trip on June 25, 2026 • 3 adults

Shane is a great captain, and very knowledgeable. He took the the time to educate the boys every step of the way about the unique ecosystem and which fish liked which baits. Each spot we went to he took the time to explain where the fish would be ans what to expect. Great time had by all.
