Just off the coast of Long Island lies Fire Island, a thin line separating Long Island from the Atlantic Ocean. Fire Island's location is perfectly suited to offer anglers varied fishing, something Fire Island Fishing Charters capitalizes on!
Climb aboard their 24' enter console manufactured by Robalo. She's built for inshore and coastal fishing, providing a first-class ride. She can handle up to 4 anglers fishing at the same time in comfort, without tangling lines or bumping elbows. Powered by a 300 HP Yamaha outboard engine, she can cruise at a maximum speed of 35 knots.
You'll target a variety of gorgeous fish with Captain Steve Smith. The famous Striped Bass is a major target, but you can also go for Flounders, False Albacores, Porgies, Black Seabass, and Weakfish, along with other species you may run into. You can try a variety of fishing techniques with the equipment provided, however, you will have to supply your own fly rods or bows for bowfishing.
The charter will provide you with quality rods and reels, with lures being available for rent. Live bait is included in the price and usually prepared before you arrive, although you can fish for it too if you want.

If you are looking for someone who is committed to your experience, look no farther. He was communicative in the days and hours before our 1/2 day charter. He told us what to do once we were on the boat. He told us why we were moving spots. Everything, My family and I had a blast. And we only caught 2 fish! But it wasn’t from a lack of his efforts. If I want to fish again off Long Island again, this is my first call.

With a backdrop of the rising sun and Blue Moon as we jetted across the bay to the oceans edge, in a beautiful boat, Capt Steve's knowledge and experience of the Great South Bay was enjoyable, fun, and entertaining. A great day of fishing with Blowfish tails for a great fish fry for the Labor Day weekend. Oh yes, not to mention the little white shark (no teeth) that was something new for my daughter and me. We had three new fisherman (two young kids included) and they had an amazing time. Steve was patient and really polite and encouraging. Not only did we catch a ton of fish but he made the family comfortable and was really attentive to their needs and questions (and concerns). We’d definitely recommend him and will do this trip again!
