Salty Peters Guide Service
Salty Peters Guide Service operates out of Port O'Connor and offers fishing trips within the area year round. Captain Jon has been fishing the Port O'Connor/Seadrift area (West Matagorda, Espiritu Santo, and San Antonio Bays) for over 20 years. During the trip, Capt. Jon educates anglers as to why the fish are in that location and where they are headed. You will be treated to knowledge of the history of the area. You can either wade or fish from the boat.
You will leave from a private dock.
Your trip will take place on a 26' Mowdy catamaran that accommodates up to 4 guest with a T-top which is perfect for shade in the Texas summers. This bay boat is perfect for exploring the back bays and/or shorelines.
During your trip, you will use either artificial lures or bait (either live or dead - bait is not included within daily rate), depending upon your comfort level, your request, and what the fish are biting on You will target Redfish, Trout, Sheepshead, and Black Drum. Trips are either five or eight hours.
Capt. Jon has all the rods and reel. If you want to wade and need the gear (except for boots) he has that too. All you will need to bring is your fishing license, snacks and drinks of your choice for the day.
Trips include fish cleaning.
It's easy to get ready for a trip with Salty Peters Guide Service. Secure your place on the boat on time and join the action.

We had a great time. The fishing was slow, but theres nothing anyone couldve done about that I really appreciated the fact that Captain John put his fishing knowledge to work doing everything he could to get us on fish. we ended up catching two black drum, one of them being a keeper and a bunch of hardheads. We will definitely book again!!

Jon works the water year round and knows the current fish patterns. He obviously has spent time marking great spots and can give appropriate technical guidance. He seemlessly interacted with everyone in our group, from a 16 year old girl to the adults. We enjoyed catching fish with him and hope to book another trip in the future.
Everything from start to finish was great! We had a blast going out with John! He knew what he was doing and he had a million jokes that kept us well entertained!
Captain Jon was amazing! His Knowledge was unbelievable, he was kind, he was hilarious, he was helpful, and he put us on the fish!! Trip of my life, have never caught that many “keepers” in my life!! Will return and will forever reccomend him!!

the bite started slow and we had 2 keeper reds and a black drum but prbably caught 15 total reds 8-10 black drum and a few hard heads. John did a great job of putting us on the fish and making sure we were baited up. had a great time

We had a great time. The weather didn’t help at all. We were in some pretty thick fog. We didn’t get to move around as much for safety reasons but we still had a blast!!

I’ve been on several different charters, from South Padre, Port A, to Orange Beach, Captain Jon and Salty Peter’s was my best experience I’ve had. It was as windy day, but Captain Jon put us in the right places to still catch fish. Great patience and a great teacher, Captain Jon’s knowledge and experience in the area pays off. We will be back!

It's very rare to be able to find a guide that is willing to take children, let alone smaller children (my daughter was 6 at the time of the trip). Captain Jon was very knowledgeable regarding the biometric pressure and the affects it has on the fish and where the fish are. He made sure to teach the kids and us how to properly fish and it's clear he loves what he does. He even made sure to check on my husband who got a bit sea sick. He was easy to get along with and very personable. Will definitely book with Cpt. Jon again! Thanks for an amazing experience our kiddos are begging to come back out on the boat again!
conditions were far from optimal and took a little time to find the fish. Capt Jon put us on them.
