He's been in the business for 48 years and has completed over 7500 charters out of Rock Hall. In 2020, Capt. Wayne was awarded 'Best of the Bay' for charter boat captains by the Chesapeake Bay Magazine, while in 2021, he received the 'Best of Rock Hall' award.
The trip starts on a 46' Markley boat that's a true fishing machine. This spacious vessel has enough room to take 16 anglers per trip and everyone can fish in comfort. After a restoration in 2020, the boat got twin 330 HP Cummins engines and upgraded with the newest navigational electronics. The boat is wheelchair accessible, has a private toilet, and also features a live bait tank, a cooler, and safety gear.
Choose between a morning and an afternoon trip. You'll explore the offshore spots looking for Striped Bass. There are different techniques you can use, mainly bottom fishing, spinning, and jigging. You get to keep your catch so try to make every cast count and don't let the fish slip away.
All fishing equipment and licenses are included in the price. After the trip, the crew will also clean and fillet your catch, so you just need to find a good nearby restaurant and enjoy a well-earned meal. Don't forget to pack some snacks and drinks for the day.

They decided on Saturday to pull out of the Rock Hall Marina and move to the Tolcester marina for the Sunday trip because that is where he knew the striper would be. What a great decision by the Captain! We had our limit in an hour! 1st mate Jamie was awesome and we got to talk to him a lot on the way back. Jamie took care of us the whole way through, from baiting our lines to netting the fish as we brought them up, he worked tirelessly for us. Captain Wayne came out with us and helped bait hooks and net fish too because we were having such success. If you want a great, fun, and exciting experience, book Captain Wayne's charter! You can't beat Captain Wayne 50 years of experience and 1st mate Jamie's 30 years of experience! They are just great people too! Easy to talk to, funny, and very knowledgeable on all aspects of fishing and boating on the Bay! I would recommend Captain Wayne Gatling to anyone wanting the best experience possible for a fishing trip on the bay. 10 out of 10 from me and my group!!

Cpt. made sure we were always in an area to catch and both were so helpful with all the kids bringing in the fish. They coached them and gave lots of pointers. We will be back for annual trips as this was a good time had by all thanks to Captain Wayne and Jacob!
