The day was great and well organised. Plenty of space on the boat and a chiller full of ice to keep drinks and food cold. Captain rotated between 3 fishing spots which were all great. We caught a 70cm Barra, and a few other fish. Great day and the captain made a great effort to keep the chat up and environment positive. Highly recommend for the price
Jacob was a fantastic skipper and took us to some of his favourite fishing spots. Everyone on the boat was able to catch a fish my Barramundi was the highlight of the trip. 5 different types of fish were caught even a rare scalloped head hammer head shark. I would highly recommend this fishing charter.
We caught a stack of green backs for live bait in a couple of casts with the net, then pushed down the estuary and anchored on a small artificial reef which we pulled 2 keeper fingermarks and a couple of unders, losing a few more to bad hook ups. We then went to over 10 more rocks wrecks and structures and didnt find another fish holding on them. Pulling up to another wreck we lost a few more baits without a hook up and decided to go and find a croc for the kids on board who were fasinated. Jacob is a passionate guide and put us on the best spots all morning, great knowledge and sounder skills. Highly recommend his charter.
I would certainly recommend booking a trip with Jacob. He put us on the fish all day and was very knowledgeable and happy to share with us. He was easy to talk to and maximised the time we were fishing for the entire time. We left with fish and great stories.

The morning started early with an amazing weather forecast for the day ahead. Met up with Captain Jacob at the marina and headed out. He is a very knowledgeable person and knew all the best spots. We had a few good catches & overall an awesome day. Would highly recommend his services to anyone looking or planning a day out fishing especially with his reasonable pricing👌

What makes my trip so wonderful: 1. Captain Jacob is nice and capable to handle any situation. 2. There are so many different species here and they are soooo big! 3. The boat is quick and safe. 4. The view is beautiful. 5. Other anglers are friendly and having good sense of humor. 6. It only costs you $120 per person. 7. You catch fish! You catch fish! You catch fish!
Jacob knows the area really well… Not just the fishing spots, but the croc sites, the local birdlife and animals, other boats, Cairns life and stories. A great half-day out for us.
Jacob was knowledgeable and fantastic in helping the guests get the most out of the trip. Boat was clean and well equipped. Highly recommend the trip to young and old. Happy fishing.
What a magnificent trip. The experience was second to none. Jacob made the experience one to never forget. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to get out and catch some decent fish. His knowledge of the area was great. Also offering us to take home our catch and for it to be prepared and cooked by local restaurants. Thank you! 🙌🐠
Personally, I couldn't have asked for a better day with the good company of Jacob. He made my Sons trip very memorable and really helped build his confidence in practical ways. Oh yeah and we experienced crocodiles, birds, scurvy sea scoundrel and caught a diverse range of decent fish, one being a boat record breaking Mangrove Jack :) Dinner that night was definitely sorted. Thanks again Jacob and Gone Fishing Charters.
Our dkipper Jacob caught live bait which we used to catch a nice mixed bag. We caught about 10 different species. We weren't equipped to clean and take our catch, so Jacob offered to clean it. When we discussed preparing the fish, he offered to take it to the Ochre restaurant where they would prepare it. He brought the fish there and made a reservation for us. The fish was fantastic and the presentation amazing. We definitely would recommend the fishing and the dining.
Jacob was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. After cast netting for our bait he took us up to a spot in the search for a Barramundi but was unsuccessfully, but a few undersized cod were landed. Next we dropped anchor in approx 21m of water and snapper, jewfish, lots of hairtails kept us busy. Last stop at inlet entry provided the catch of day a solid blue nose salmon at 75cm. A fabulous morning with a delightful skipper.

We booked this half day trip as we wanted to go fishing but were only in Cairns for a few days with our partners. Jacob, the Captain was an excellent host and extremely knowledgeable about fishing. The equipment was good and the boat was comfortable and everyone on board had an excellent time. We caught five species during the trip and Jacob even tried to find a crocodile for us to take a look at. A great little fishing trip that I would recommend to novices and experienced Anglers alike!
