Running Sportfishing trips out of Christiansted, Down South Charters invites you to check out the local fishery in style.
Capt. Randy will do his best to make sure you have a fun day full of fishing and adventure. Whether it is trolling, live bait fishing, fly fishing, light tackle, or spearfishing, the crew will do everything they can to put you on the action. Down South offers 4,6, and 8 hour trips where the target species include King Mackerel, Wahoo, Dolphin, Tuna, Barracuda, and Marlin depending on the season and conditions for the day.
Your fishing adventure starts on a 36' Yellowfin center console that can safely take up to 6 anglers. This boat features an ice box. With triple Mercury 300s they can cover ground and get you to the right spots quickly. The yellowfin is in a league of its own and you will be thankful for the stable and smooth ride this boat offers.
All rods, reels, and terminal tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, fishing. No need to worry about fishing licenses, as they will be provided and handled by the charter. You're welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip.
Capt. Randy runs trips together with his first mate (when available), who's there to help you with whatever you may need. Tips are always appreciated for a job well done. 15 - 25% of your charter rate is the industry standard.
The price of your trip also includes bottled waters, coolers, and ice, but you're welcome to bring your own drinks as well as snacks or a lunch. Please let the captain know if you have any questions or special requests.

We had such a memorable time that we booked a second trip with him two days later. We absolutely loved the organization and cleanliness of his boat but most importantly we loved catching fish and he made that possible, not once, but twice in one week! Highly recommended this company and Captain Randy for the best experience possible in St Croix!

Half Day Trip (PM) on April 19, 2023 • 2 adultsWOW!!! Great trip wirh Captain Randy! Landed a 28 lb, 55 inch Mahi. The struggle was reel (pun intended) to get Manny the Mahi in the boat. Captain Randy is very knowledgable and was a great help to us and coached us through reeling it in. He helped tremendously when I was ready to give up! Yes, my arms were burning- actually had to use both hands on the reel to keep cranking it in. He was calm and kept his cool when I was losing my $#@% !! Boat was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Captain Randy said our fish was the largest Mahi he has landed on his boat. This was the fishing trip of a lifetime! Captain Randy studied marine biology and provided information on what to look for when out on the sea. He mentioned a type of bird (frigate bird) that stays aloft for up to 2 months, and that when spotted, is a good indicator that a 'good catch' is probably near by. We saw one such bird...but as luck would (not) have it, it flew right on by... Captain Randy said we needed a dumb fish and some good luck!! Turns out, we were granted both wishes!! Manny the Mahi will be mounted by Grays taxidermy. Thanks Captain Randy!! HIGHLY reccomend!!!

Fishing with the Boy Scouts
Half Day Trip (PM) on November 8, 2023 • 6 adults • 1 childWhile visiting St Croix our Boy Scout troop spent the day with captain Randy and Josh. We scheduled a morning and an afternoon charter. Captain Randy was very accommodating and did everything to be sure the scouts (and parents) had a fantastic time. We caught fish and served up our catch for dinner that night. Highly recommend Down South Charters for your next fishing excursion!

we were in town celebrating my dads 86th birthday. he loves to fish. he had a great time and not only did we catch 2 Mahi but also had an orca swim right by us. our captain was very experienced, organized, fun and communicated great before the trip too. Highly recommend.
