Sail Padre is a private charter on a restored 1986 Fisher 32' sailing catamaran out of Port Isabel, minutes from South Padre Island. Capt. Phillip Frugé grew up on these waters and takes up to 6 guests on the Lower Laguna Madre for bay fishing, sunset and fireworks cruises, dolphin watches, and night fishing.
On fishing trips you'll target redfish, speckled trout, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, and whatever else is chewing that day. Rods, reels, tackle, and live bait are included. We clean and fillet your keepers. The boat has a cabin, an onboard head, shade, and a stable twin-hull deck that's easy on kids and first-timers. Drinks and snacks are included on every trip; alcohol is fine in moderation.
Prefer a cruise? Book the Sunset & Fireworks run (in season) or a Dolphin Watch. Pickup is included from Port Isabel / SPI waterfront spots (Jim's Pier, Viva Restaurant, Louie's, Henrietta's, Lobo Del Mar, and nearby docks — ask when you book).
This is a sailing catamaran, not a high-speed bay boat. We fish and cruise at a comfortable pace so you can actually enjoy the Laguna Madre.

Captain Phill possesses a rare blend of intellectual depth and interpersonal warmth. Hecwas extraordinarily patient with our 10 year old, allowing him to assist in tbe filleting of the fish, shared a personal story about God with two of our older sons, and secured my safety aboard the boat, while I tried to reel in a large stingray. He even worked around the poor weather and allowed us to reschedule our trip. You’d be blessed to spend a few hours with Phill, aboard his catamaran.

We caught a really fun variety, including a couple different types of catfish, a stingray, and even a small shark. Captain Phillip Fruge was super nice, easy to talk to, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. Catching so many different things kept the trip exciting the entire time. Definitely a memorable experience and I’d happily book with him again!
