Not Too Bad Tours 

We started the day targeting roosterfish, and once we hit a few spots, it was ON! We ended up catching more than 12 roosters, and honestly, I’m not sure I could have caught another one if I tried. I had told Haysen that my two goals for the trip were to target tuna and roosterfish, and he kept checking for tuna reports offshore throughout the morning. After an incredible morning of catching more roosterfish than I ever could have imagined, we headed offshore in search of tuna. What happened next was straight out of National Geographic. Dolphins, birds, turtles, and tuna were everywhere, with tuna literally skyrocketing out of the water. First line in, and we were instantly hooked up to a tuna! I’m an avid fisherman and have been fortunate enough to experience some incredible days on the water, but this day topped them all. Haysen is an amazing captain who genuinely loves fishing and, more importantly, making sure his clients have the best experience possible. His knowledge, effort, and passion really made the trip unforgettable. What an incredible experience from start to finish. I signed up for theTuna and Mahi-mahi trip but the captain said that due to El Nino, water temps were too high. Mahi according to thefish market have not been seen or several months, a water was aroud 85 degrees. Tuna were very scarce and we did not see any spinner dolphins. Captain and mat picked us up at 6 am in his panga with twin 60 HP. Captain caught live bait the night before. We went 25 miles off shore to look for tuna in the canyons. After about 4 hours of no tuna or mahi, we went to the coast and fished with live bait for bottom fish. Within minutes hooked into Rooster fish, blue trevally and several species of jacks...We then fished off of a wreck and continued to catch similar species. It turned out to be a fun trip.

Captain Haysen is the man! I wanted to catch roosterfish and tuna. Captain Haysen put us on roosters right away. We caught them all morning. Then decided to chase Big Yellowfin. Captain would not give up. He found a school of monsters. We hooked into a 100 lb Yellowfin which I fought for 40 minutes. What a battle! If you are coming to this area, Captain Haysen is the guy to put you on fish! He knows fishing and where to find them.

We had a fantastic trip Captain Haysen was great! He knew the spots to catch fish and he delivered. The tackle was in great shape and he worked the entire time to catch fish. His boat handeling skills were top notch. Great service and a great experience.

I’ve fished around this whole world and this is by far the best guy I’ve ever booked a charter with. Heyson is very personable and humble. The fish was the cherry on top, hanging with him was the best part.

Amazing day fishing a full day inshore with Captain Heysen. He worked hard to put me on multiple hookups including Rooster fish and Bluefin Trevally and more. We also got to see plenty of dolphins, manta rays and sea turtles along the beautiful Costa Rican coastline. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

even though we did not land anything. We did have bites and one battle with a large fish but line snapped right before getting to the boat. We know the rules of fishing that sometimes we catch them and sometimes you don’t. Haysen did not give up trying to get us on the fish.

Booked a second trip and had even more fun catching fish! Haysen is the hardest working and most knowledgeable guide. A+. 10/10. He has lived in Gulfito his whole life. Also speaks perfect English.
