Fish Port Phillip Bay with Orca Charters aboard the Orca 9, a fast, stable 9-metre AMSA-certified rigid inflatable operated by local skipper Michael Atwell out of Martha Cove, Safety Beach.
We keep it small: one boat, your group only on private charters, and a skipper who fishes and dives these waters every week. The Orca 9 gets you to the fish quickly and comfortably, with plenty of seating, a large open deck, and Simrad electronics to help locate the fish.
Target species include Pink Snapper, the Bay’s favourite, best caught in spring and autumn, King George Whiting, Gummy Shark, Squid, and Flathead.
Trips run seven days a week, with departures at 6:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Choose a half-day or full-day shared trip, or book the whole boat for a private charter and make it your own, whether fishing, cruising the Bay, exploring South Channel Island Fort, or snorkelling with the seals.
During scallop season, we also run scallop charters, so gather a group of mates and head out to search for scallops.
Rods, reels, and tackle are supplied. Your catch is yours to keep, within legal size and bag limits. Please note that we don’t clean or fillet fish on board.
The boat has plenty of space and seating but limited shelter, so bring a jacket, sunscreen, a hat, and your own food and drinks.
Kids are welcome. No smoking is permitted on board.
