Calculated Risk
Looking to catch some fish in Puerto Vallarta? That's what Calculated Risk is here for! With Captain Juan at the helm, you'll have a knowledgeable and experienced guide.
These waters are known for Amberjack, Jack Crevalle, Blue Marlin, Roosterfish, Sailfish, Snook, Skipjack Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Black Marlin, Cubera Snapper, Black Rockfish, Blacktail Snapper, and more. With any luck, they'll make your reel scream!
On these trips, it's common to troll and bottom fish using heavy tackle. Capt. Juan can also take you kite fishing. For the more adventurous among you, there's bowfishing.
Any fish within the legal limit are yours to take home. Catch cleaning is available, so you can enjoy fresh seafood without any hassle.
Capt. Juan is happy to have kids aboard, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Children must wear life vests, so check with the captain to make sure the appropriate sizes are available on board. Snacks are always a good idea for an extra boost of energy!
Capt. Juan will welcome you aboard a 35' sportfishing boat with room for up to 10 passengers. It comes equipped with outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials. There's also a toilet on board for your convenience.
You'll find rods, reels, tackle, and lures waiting for you. Live bait is available, but it's best to ask the captain in advance whether you'll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything runs smoothly. Mates often work for tips, and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Before coming aboard, you'll need to purchase a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be protected or require a tag to keep, so make sure you know the regulations beforehand.
A few items to bring include sunglasses and non-spray sunblock. Bottled water is included, but other drinks are not.
