Looking to get away from Orlando's busy streets and experience it's most treasured natural resource? Welcome to the "Magic Kingdom of bass fishing". Lake Toho is the #1 big bass lake in the state and our hand picked team fishes it full time. This beautiful lake is located near Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and the Orlando Convention Center.

Year after year, this lake produces more bass over 10 pounds in weight than any other lake in the country. Want proof? Just check out our pictures! We're so confident in our ability to put you on fish that we are the only guide service to offer a NO FISH NO PAY guarantee!

At any moment that one you're looking for could be on the other end of the line, and with our top of the line equipment anyone can fight them in! Just ask Capt. AJ himself who holds the second biggest bass ever caught out of the lake at 15 pounds 8 ounces and his mentor Ed Chancey holds the lake record with a 16 pound 10 ounce bass.

AJ's Bass Guides has been in business and family owned since 1968, and is Orlando's oldest and highest rated fishing guide service. Capt. AJ and his hand picked guides have also been featured in countless fishing TV shows and magazines. From In-fisherman, ESPN, ABC Sports, CBS Sports, and Bassmasters.

With AJ and his guides you'll be fishing on top of the line bass boats and center console boats. Our guides have been hand picked for not only their ability to catch fish no matter the conditions but also provide an excellent experience for groups of all experience levels.

All fishing gear and lures are provided, but you are also welcome to buy wild shiners as bait before the trip. They are $25 for a dozen and are the most effective big bass bait there is. Depending on the length of your trip, you can buy 3–7 dozen.

Trips of 4 or more people are live bait only trips because of the danger of having that many people throw artificials at the same time. If you would like to fish artificials please book 3 or less people.

Not a Perfect Day, But Still a Great Trip!

    5 Hour Trip on June 30, 2026 • 2 adults • 1 child

We booked a 5 hour trip and were guided by Captain Jay. He was great with my 11 year old, and made sure she had fun and caught several fish, including her PB, of about 4lb! The day was not perfect, as even the best guides cannot guarantee the fish will bite. We caught about 7 fish during the 5 hour trip, and only caught one during the first 2 1/2 hours. It was pretty obviously as slow day, judging by most of the reviews here and the clearly slow start, by any standard. Jay suspected/noticed that our bait was not lively enough, and called for fresh shiners, which we received about halfway through the trip. After refreshing bait and changibg spots, the bite picked up, and we caught a few nice fish to end the day. Missed out on a true hog, or a huge number of fish, but my kid caught more and bigger bass than she ever had before, and had a great time! What more can you ask for? Jay was very professional, knowledgeable and fun to fish with. I definitely recommend this trip, and would book again, but would hope that the bait is really good and lively from the start, because those shiners are WAY too expensive to just lay around out there and not catch fish! Thanks Jay!

    Beautiful day - fabulous fishing

    4 Hour Trip on October 22, 2026 • 2 adults

Purchased the fishing trip for my husband’s 65th birthday. A spectacular day fishing. This is the first guided trip we have ever been on. Would definitely do it again for sure. AJ is a fun and knowledgeable guide. Appreciate the time he spent with us and the patience he had with me. AJ, thank you for a memorable birthday gift.

Great trip with Guide Dalton of AJ's Bass Guides!

    8 Hour Trip on April 9, 2026 • 2 adults

Communication with AJ's Bass Guides was extremely clear. They delivered information and answered questions in a very timely manner. Our guide, Dalton, met us exactly where and when he said he would and had picked up the agreed upon Shiner's we'd discussed pre-trip. He was very easy to talk to, knew a lot about the lake and surrounding areas (which were new to us), and willfully shared a lot of knowledge. The weather wasn't perfect as there were continuous squalls throughout the day with the briefest of sun pops through the clouds and a lot of wind, whitecapping at multiple times. But he was well prepared for that though (including having a extra set of raingear pants which we'd forgotten). He did his best to avoid the brunt of the squalls when possible and handled the boat very well despite the wind. He did get us on to fish throughout the day. Maybe not the 100+ he'd noted the day before, but given the weather he did put us on dozens of fish mostly in the 1-3 pound range throughout the day. We were never able to hook the trophy fish we were after, but it was a great day of fishing with Dalton and we look forward to going after them again and would definitely seek out Dalton (and AJ's guides) again without hesitation.

    Great Family Fishing Trip

    2 and 1/2 Hour Trip on April 6, 2026 • 4 adults

AJ was a great fish Captain. He was very helpful and patient. Very knowledgeable of the fish and lake. We had a friendly competition between Dad and Son vs. Mom and Daughter. The boys won 10 fish to 8 fish in 2.5 hours. Biggest fish goes to son Bass 7 pounds 2 oz. Most interesting fish was a bow fin fish and the winner goes to our daughter. Captain AJ made it fun and helped us keep track of the winners. AJ next time I’ll pay you more so the girls win lol. Anyone wanting great fish, fun family fishing with a great Captain this is Your trip. Thanks AJ. Samuel and Grace will remember this forever!! Can’t wait to do it again maybe 4 hours next time.

Today was a great morning out on Lake Toho! Even though it was horrible weather, AJ was able to put us on fish! He made sure to bring us rain gear! This was our 3rd time out with him and once again we thought it was successful! Thanks for a great morning AJ!

    What a trip!

    8 Hour Trip on March 23, 2026 • 1 adult

Captain Gaines put us on the fish immediately. I caught 14 beautiful bass including 4 personal best fish In A Row! The 5 best totaled 21.14 lbs. And, my new PB is 5 lbs 9 oz. Even come afternoon when the bite got a little tougher, he kept putting us on fish. I can’t wait to come back and I’ll be bringing my twin sons when I do. The shiner bite was amazing. Do yourself a favor and book this trip! I can’t speak highly enough of Captain Gaines. It was truly a pleasure fishing with him. He’s not only a great fisherman and Captain but he’s a really nice person.

    Incredible day on the water

    4 Hour Trip - 1:00 PM on November 15, 2025 • 2 adults • 1 child

AJ Fishing Guides gave us one of the best days we have ever had on the water. Captain Jay knew exactly where to put us and kept the trip fun the whole time. My son landed his PB and they were able to get some awesome shots of it. The boat was loaded with all the lures, tackle, and all the equipment you could ever want, so we were ready for anything. Great people, great service, and a trip we will never forget. At the end of the day my son caught his PB and it made the whole experience perfect.

Like fishing with your long time buddy.

    4 Hour Trip - 1:00 PM on January 16, 2026 • 2 adults • 1 child

AJ was one of the nicest friendliest guides I've ever fished with. It seriously was like fishing with a buddy from school. He was personable, patient and helpful with my son (11), as well as just being comfortable to be around and converse with. He put us on some fish we definitely wouldn't have caught back home and I even caught a surprise 11-12" crappie! Highly recommended, I even told him as we were departing at the boat ramp that I'd look him up again if/when we were back in town!

Great Trip!
4 Hour Trip on July 25, 2026 • 2 adults

We had an awesome bass fishing trip with AJ's Bass Guides, and our guide, Captain Jon, was outstanding! The bite was definitely slow because of the hot July weather, but Jon never stopped working to put us on fish. He kept moving to different spots, changing tactics, and doing everything he could to find active fish. His knowledge, persistence, and positive attitude really made the difference. We ended up catching about 16 bass amongst the three of us during our 4-hour trip, including several right around the 5-pound mark. Considering the tough conditions, we were very happy with how the day turned out. My two sons had a great time and both agreed it was definitely worth waking up early for. If you're looking for a guide who works hard and doesn't give up when the fishing gets tough, I highly recommend booking a trip with Captain Jon. Thanks for a great experience, we'll definitely be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Incredible Trip – 34 Bass and a Whole Lot More!
6 Hour Trip on June 6, 2026 • 4 adults

If you are looking for a top-notch guide, look no further than AJ’s Bass Guides. We booked a 6-hour family trip on Lake Toho, and we absolutely hammered them! AJ put us right on the fish. We landed a grand total of 34 bass (plus a few heartbreakers that got away at the boat). On top of the non-stop largemouth action, we caught a crazy variety of species, including longnose gar, spotted gar, and a massive bowfin. AJ is a fantastic guy, great to talk to, and knows these waters inside and out. He kept the whole family engaged and reeling in fish the entire day. If you're anywhere near the area and want to have some fun, do yourself a favor and book a trip with Aj; you won't be disappointed. I know when we're back in the area, we're making time to get back on the water with him! Thanks again Aj!

Fantastic Day on the water!
5 Hour Trip on October 14, 2026 • 2 adults

Well, What more can I say... As the sun rose this morning it took exactly 1 minute to catch our first fish and the action just kept rolling... Captain Tyler and I were catching and releasing fish as quickly as we could get a bait in the water. Every fishermans dream . Thanks for a great day and look forward to setting up another trip soon. Lake Toho Fall fishing report
Lake Toho Fall fishing report
October 4, 2026
Fall is here, and what comes with it? Great weather and good bass fishing on Lake Toho. As temps continue to come down, the bass are feeding more and more. Fall on lake Toho typically brings both good numbers of bass along with more consistent trophy size bass. They will begin to feed heavily in preparation for spawn, and even start hitting the surface schooling on shad beginning usually around mid October and it will last through December. This is the BEST and most consistent time of year for big topwater blow ups on Lake Toho. With the bass schooling together in large groups chasing bait, we tend to catch very good numbers. Depending on the days weather, 15-25 bass days are common. And if you’re using shiners, once you run out, you can usually just keep the catching going by throwing some artificials in the same area. For artificials, we’re typically focusing on grass edges and open water shell beds where the bass on Lake Toho are schooling up. Once you’re in one of these areas with a large group of fish, it’s usually pretty easy to catch them. A number of different lures will work. If they’re schooling on the surface, topwater spooks, whopper ploppers, jerkbaits, flukes, rattletraps, and spinnerbaits typically will get the job done. It just depends on what mood the fish are in. If they’re busting on top, use topwater, if they’re not wanting to surface as much, a jerkbait, fluke, or worm may do the trick. There’s a lot of good submerged hydrilla, eel grass, and peppergrass on the lake right now holding bass also. For these area’s, speedworms and chatterbaits reeled across the tops of the grass have been working well. A zoom super fluke twitched down in the grass has been working well also when the moving lures aren’t. And as I mentioned earlier, trophy sized bass begin to be caught more consistently. This is because the main reason for all this feeding is to prepare for the upcoming winter time spawn. And as the fall progresses the female bass will begin to fill up with eggs until they’re at their biggest weight of the whole year. Fall is an excellent time of year to bass fish Lake Toho and it is also the beginning of our peak season for guiding. So if you’re looking to book a guide trip, it is best to reserve your day as early as possible. Bass wishes, Capt. AJ
