Four Aces Sport Fishing – Ashtabula
Four Aces Sport Fishing invites you on a fishing trip on the waters of Lake Erie. You'll head out of Ashtabula, Ohio, an area well-known for great fishing thanks to its location at the heart of the central basin, which draws very large fish. The charter is operated by Captain Tom Welcome who has fished these waters for over 2 decades!
Hop aboard his 30' Sportcraft walkaround, ideal for up to 6 anglers. She's got a 545 HP Marina Power engine that gets you to productive fishing grounds fast. She's also fully equipped with the necessary safety equipment and a CPR-trained crew, as well as navigational features including GPS and a Fishfinder. What's more, she has an onboard toilet to make each trip more comfortable.
You'll head out in search of large Walleye, Perch, White Bass, and Steelhead that are found in abundance in this section of Lake Erie. You'll use a variety of fishing methods including drift fishing, jigging, trolling, and light tackle in order to hook your prize. Capt. Tom advises you on the best methods to use depending on the season and the area you're exploring.
All of the necessary fishing gear, including rods, reels, tackle, live baits, and lures, already awaits on board. Bring along any drinks and snacks you'd like to enjoy, as well as an Ohio fishing license. Capt. Tom welcomes beginners and children, as well as experienced anglers!

We could not believe how good the bite was on Erie and we didn’t have to make any adjustments, in fact we couldn’t even get the lines set and we had fish on!!! We had a great time fishing and Tom worked with us showing different techniques and his skill in coordinating having multiple lines in the water resulted in our limit catch of big walleye. We really felt a part of the team instead of a bystander. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this charter and look forward to the next time. 4 Aces is hard to beat for sure.

Full Day Trip – Summer Trolling on August 13, 2020 • 4 adults • 1 childBooked an 8 hour walleye charter with Four Aces Sport Fishing out of Ashtabula, OH on Aug 13, 2020 with my family. Capt. Tom met us at the marina, had the boat ready to go, and got us on fish immediately. We didn't even have all the lines set up and we were hauling in big walleye. Capt Tom made sure that all of us including the boys (17 and 11) were actively involved in setting lines, reeling in fish, and netting our catch. He showed us the ropes and had us running the deck while he managed the boat and handled the fish. We caught our limit by noon and were back at the marina by 1:15. I would strongly recommend booking a trip with Four Aces, especially if you have kids in your group. Tom will have them hooking up on walleye in no time!

The captain is very knowledgeable and involves you in the catching part. We all learned a lot today from our trip and he made my young sons feel very comfortable and it’s a day they will always remember! Captain Tom put us on the fish and we had our limit in no time. Full Day Trip – Summer Trolling on July 15, 2020 • 4 adultsWe went trolling for walleye. We caught all that we wanted to keep, plus a nice Steelhead. We had to throw a few small ones back and lost a couple at the boat but we all learned some things. The people in are group usually fish for Bass or in Tournaments. So using some of the equipment was a little different, but by the end we had it down. Capt. Tom was great and I would recommend this trip for sure.

Full Day Trip – Summer Trolling on August 24, 2019 • 6 adultsCaptain Tom was waiting for us at the dock with everything we needed! We were in the boat by 6:30 and fishing by 7:15. Hr was very thorough in his explanations and taught us everything we needed to know about trolling for walleye. By 10:30, we were limited out with 42 fish on ice! He got us on in fish quick, and it was game on from there. If you’re considering a trip, just do it, and book with Four Aces and Captain Tom!

This trip was everything that we hoped for and more. Captain Tom put us on fish all day until we caught our limit. I would highly recommend Captain Tom and Four Aces. I will definitely use him again.
I chose to go to Four Aces because the captain stated he was going to involve the guests in the entire trolling process and not just reel in the fish by taking turns. I have trolled but my family had never done it, but they do like fishing. We all learned a lot about trolling for walleyes. I would like to compliment Captain Tom and his mate Kenzie for being friendly, patient, knowledgeable and dogged in getting us our limit. As an aside, my son got sea-sick, but the captain was empathetic, helpful, and respectful all day. When you are sea sick, everything is miserable and I am glad he did not pick on or tease my son as he slowly got over the motion sickness enough to get back to fishing. By the way, our party of five limited out. A lot of big walleyes, too. We had a little excitement with a steelhead and had to deal with some dinks and a few sheephead. We were happy and exhausted. I would certainly fish with Captain Tom again. The man works hard all day to get you on fish and makes you part of the whole adventure.
