Family-friendly and pet-friendly. Bring your dog. South Padre Outfitters is here to make your fishing dreams come true! They will take you fishing on the South Padre Island's waters with Captain Ryan Falls. Having fished these waters for over 40 years, Captain Ryan is an excellent choice for a fishing guide in SPI. He is a warm, knowledgeable, and patient person who loves taking families fishing.

Captain Ryan will take you and your family fishing aboard his 24' Dargel flats boat, restored in 2025. This shallow water beauty is powered by a 250 HP Suzuki engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 55 knots. You will not waste any fishing time with this vessel as this much speed means you quickly change productive locations. Once there, the vessel's two sighting towers located at bow and stern will allow you to see the fish with your own eyes.

And now the fish! Tailing Redfish and Speckled Trout, bottom-dwelling Flounder, and the versatile Mangrove Snapper can all be found on South Padre Island. Most species are present year-round and all are great to eat. To target the fish, you will mostly throw lures but can also use live bait if need be. If it's your first time fishing and you are eager to learn, don't be shy to ask Captain Ryan for advice.

The boat has a livewell and an icebox on board, as well as all the fishing gear you need – rods, reels, tackle, and lures. You will only need to bring a Texas fishing license with a saltwater stamp. Please note, it's useful to have a hat, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, drinks, snacks, and a cooler large enough for all your catch!

Now take a look at the trips offered below, book the one that suits you the most and give Captain Ryan a chance, you'll be glad you did!

    Ryan gets limits!

Half Day Trip (AM) on October 19, 2026 • 2 adults

Considering the weather, he put us on trout and we limited with enough time to go to several other spots before the weather turned worse. Captain Ryan is very kind and accommodating. We would highly recommend him to everyone!!!

    Capt Ryan is the Man!!

    Half Day Trip (AM) on July 30, 2026 • 6 adults • 1 child

we had the best time. My father-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews and my son. We limited out on trout early because the captain put us on the best spots. he was knowledgeable, fun and was just as excited as we were to catch fish. I honestly think he was more excited when my nephews and son caught fish then we were. We will book him every time we are in South Padre.

    great experience

    Half Day Trip (AM) on May 23, 2026 • 3 adults • 1 child

Mr Ryan was a great company, great captain in his knowledge and ability and companion. we had a great time with my family, brother, in laws and grandson. here is the however! this is to give the feedback to Ryan and all captains, in my business experience, if you are a mechanic, you have the best tools, if customer service, a great smile and knowledgeable in the product you offer, if you are a fishing captain, have the best nets to catch the fish, to avoid loosing the few fish customer may catch, the best and smooth fishing rods, the shiniest hooks so customer that do not have that much knowledge on fishing do not have to work with faulty equipment. i had a previous trip with another captain and we had to be towed back due to engine failure. another time a captain and crew did not keep count of fish and people that flew for the fishing experience and got their limit, did not get any fish because the were polite to let others get their fish first and they went back home empty handed. just do your best, best equipment, best knowledge of area, so customer do not walk with gaps and disappointment in their experience, we can not expect the fish to catch that hook every time we cast or expect the biggest fish but for sure the best effort to make customer come back!!! i have always been working to avoid mediocrity in my industry! never that mañana! mañana! and i share my moto!! to push others to try their best! echa toda la carne al asador!!! i will recommend Captain Ryan!! i will give a chance!! there is always room for improvement!! Great time with my son!

    3 Hour trip on August 4, 2024 • 2 adults • 1 child

We booked with another guide months in advance only for him to cancel on us 2 days before the trip was planned. I frantically searched for. Charter with a comparable price and review rating. I settled on Cap. Ryan Falls because of his price and review rating. I’m so glad I did! My son and I had a blast out on the water with him. Captain Ryan got us on trout right away. We limited out in less than an hour and caught a couple of reds as well. He also got us an up close look at some dolphins (we’re talking right up to the boat!) as well as many sea turtles! Cap. Ryan is very knowledgeable, and we had great conversations along the way. He was great with my son in that he helped teach him how to cast properly, how to work the cork, and he was very kind and patient with him. We will be booking with him again next year, if not sooner. Thanks Cap!

    Speckled with lots of fun!

    3 Hour trip on July 31, 2024 • 2 adults

Captain Ryan is a great guide! He took us to a few spots and always helped us with everything. He gave me and my son some pointers and he also knows a lot about SPI history. He wanted to make sure we caught our speckle trout daily maximum and extended our trip for a bit. He even helped my son “lasso” a fish we thought we had lost since it had snapped our line. That made my son’s day and he said it was the most memorable fishing trip ever. I highly recommend this trip!! A few things to note: Captain Ryan does not provide live bait but he will go purchase it for you. We paid $25 for bait and also had to pay $10 for parking. But it was all worth it. Just want you to be aware as you prepare for the excursion.

🐟 🐟 Too many fish to count!

Half Day Trip (AM) on July 24, 2025 • 4 adults

This was our second fishing trip with Captain Ryan. He knows exactly where to put you on the fish. From the time we started fishing until the time we left the bites never stopped. We caught our limit in trout. It was an enjoyable, productive, fishing trip! We will definitely be back!

    Great family fun!

Half Day Trip (AM) on August 6, 2025 • 3 adults

We had a great time. Captain Ryan got us on some fish and we stayed busy catching em all morning. My wife especially loved the dolphins. We went for the fishing and got a bonus dolphin cruise! 😁

Great day
Half Day Trip (AM) on February 3, 2026 • 2 adults

During our time actually fishing, the action was nearly constant. We estimate we caught over 100 sea trout. They were all small, but very willing. Having dolphins surfacing around the boat was an added bonus, as well as adding excitement to pulling in fish! Fortunately, they never did manage to grab a fish on the line. Ryan is very knowledgeable about the area in general (he also runs non-fishing bay tours), and fishing in particular. His stories of friends, family, and experiences will keep you well entertained. He has a good network of other captains, and keeps up with current conditions and fish activity. While we didn’t need it, I expect this comes in handy when the fishing is tough. The boat is well equipped, and is a real hoot to ride in when Ryan opens it up. We were out a ways, and probably had 30 minutes each way to our fishing spot. Plenty of time to enjoy the speed, waves and sun.
