Waterside Charters runs inshore and nearshore fishing trips on the waters near Charles Lake, Louisiana. This estuary offers great fishing year-round, and you can catch some of the finest species inshore waters offer – Redfish and Spotted Seatrout. You can also hope to reel in Flounder, Tripletail, and other water creatures.
Your guide for the day will be Captain Shane Morein. He is a fully insured captain, with 2 decades of fishing experience under his belt. He likes taking out anglers of all levels of expertise. Kids can learn a great deal about inshore fishing, and novice anglers can test their grip. If you're a more seasoned fisherman, come along, and try landing a trophy catch.
Capt. Shane will take you out on a 23' Black Jack center console. It is powered by a 250 HP Suzuki engine and can cruise up to speeds of 50 knots. The boat is rigged with the navigational gadgets and stores a live bait well. It can take up to 4 anglers who will join the captain and head out for fine angling action. If you're thinking about taking kids on board, just bring life jackets in adequate sizes.
You will be provided with rods, reels, and tackle. You can purchase live bait at an extra cost. You will have plenty of water and ice so bring your specialty drinks on board. The captain will clean and fillet your catch so that you can have a juicy meal after the trip. Bring a cooler to store your catch, or feel free to release it if you will.
The captain can change the meeting point to better work with your schedule and desired route. He will make sure you have a good time on the water, so if you'd like to treat yourself, invite friends, and come along.
Pack sunblock, shades, clothes for the trip, and a camera. Here at Waterside Charters, they love to hear you say 'get da net!'

He is a knowledgeable captain with excellent experience, willing to work hard to put you on the fish and adapt to your fishing skills. We got a nice mess of fish (specks, redfish, flounder, black drum) and also got to have a tug of war with a nice 34" bull red which we let go after her morning exercise :). We had to work at it and Captain Devin covered a lot of different fishing spots and methods to get our success. Will definitely look him up for our next trip there.

He described it as “awesome” to his mom and siblings and “the best weekend ever.” He was so excited to tell all his friends and show all his pictures at school today. Captain Shane was very friendly, helpful, and most importantly put us on some redfish! Having kids of his own, Capt Shane is great with explaining everything to the kids so they can be successful and have a memorable experience. Great trip and can’t wait to get back out on the water in the Spring!

Fished with crabs and you see the results. The first one I fought broke my brand new $100.00 rod after that I used his gear that was provided. That’s when I caught the fish of a lifetime. Both of my sons caught one then we were out of bait. Once in a lifetime trip that wasn’t wasted. Like most of my trips turn out. Thanks Captain Devin for a successful trip. Tony, Anthony, and Jason.

5 Hour Trip (AM) on July 8, 2022 • 2 adultsI can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our trip. The boat was spotless, the equipment and tackle was topnotch, and Capt. Shane made us feel right at home. My son had never done this kind of fishing before and Capt Shane has him looking like a pro by the time we left. On the drive home i asked my son if he'd like to do that again and very quickly he replied "Only if we can go with Capt Shane again"! So Capt Shane looks like we will be seeing you again next summer. It was an amazing trip, memory of a life time, and I would highly recommend booking a trip with Westside Charters and Capt Shane I promise you won't regret it.

He was able to put us in all the right places to catch a variety of different species. We had a great time and after just four hours my family of four had all caught enough fish to be very content. He exceeded our expectations by far in taking care of us during our trip and making sure we had everything we needed. He made sure to educate us on all aspects of fishing this area from bait to the different types of fish, when and where to catch them, and threw in a few "tips for the day!" Highly recommend and plan to go again sooner than later!

We had a fun fishing trip. I took my son fishing as well as his friend who had never been saltwater fishing. We had lots of action everywhere we went. Captin Austin worked hard to get us on the fish. I would definitely reccomend this trip to others.
Captain Shane is great captain and would highly recommend booking a trip with him. Will catch fishing and enjoy yourself.
