Alaskan 4 Star Charters
It's time to plan your next fishing trip, and head over to Whittier for a day with Captain Jody and the Alaskan 4 Star Charters. Capt. Jody has been fishing in this area for 5 decades! It's safe to say he'll take you to the best spots where he knows the bite to be good regularly.
These trips are good for 6 people on the 35' Epic aluminum boat. There is plenty of shelter from the elements on board. The boat has twin engines that will get you far out to the fishing grounds faster than other boats.
The trips are 11 hours long as the ride to the fishing grounds will take a minimum of 2 hours. Children of all ages are welcome – your captain and crew love having little ones aboard! The captain suggests adding some Black Bass fishing to the trip to keep it interesting for the kids.
You'll be able to target Coho, Chum, Sockeye, Pink, and Chinook Salmon, as well as Halibut, Lingcod, Seabass, Rockfish, and more. The Salmon can put up a good fight and are delicious to eat. Halibut can grow to huge lengths and are also prized at the dinner table. The captain will advise what you can keep and which should be released.
You'll need to bring plenty of layers with you – you can always take off layers but you can't put on what you don't have! Wear light-soled shoes and have a rain jacket with you. You'll need to bring a fishing license along – it's best to buy this before the trip to not eat into your fishing time. One small cooler of food and drink can be bought along, but please be aware there is limited space on board.
After the trip, the captain will direct you to the best places to have your fish vacuum packed and sent home.
Book the trip of a lifetime with Alaskan 4 Star Charters now!
***IMPORTANT NOTICE***
Halibut Stamp Tax is being introduced where all anglers fishing for Halibut will need to pay $20 directly to the captain who then settles the tax with the government. This tax is not included in the trip prices displayed below.

We were a group with little fishing experience. The captain and crew surpassed our expectations and did a great job encouraging and teaching us. We had a great time on the water and landed all sorts of fish. Prince William Sound is beautiful and we also got to see all sorts of wildlife. Highly Recommend.

Super knowledgeable crew! Not only did they have their spots to target for the different types of fish, they also had a lot of history to share on the area, since they are one of the longest running guide services running out of Whittier.
We had a blast! we all caught fish and we all heckled each other and had a great time!! Capts were knowledgeable and very helpful.. If i could rate it at 10 i would!!

We went out with Captain Darryl and had a wonderful time. We went with family that we hadn’t seen in a long time. We had the boat to ourselves and 1/2 of us didn’t have a clue of what we were doing. The other 1/2 were experienced fishermen. Captain Darryl gave us new fishermen all the help we needed. And let the more experiences people just run with it, giving support when needed. We all brought in several fish. I would recommend Alaska Four Star Carters to anyone looking to have fun and get some fish. We also got to see whales, otters, sea lions and seals. I can’t thank them enough for all the great memories.
Sorry, this took so long. Went to Alaska the first week in August to fish Halibut with Alaska 4-Star Charters. Could not have picked a better crew!! Captain Jodi got us on fish right away. Co-Capitan Darryl gave us a demo on equipment and technique, then let us loose. After that, they spent their time coaching, teaching and making sure everyone caught fish and had fun. We caught Rockfish, Cod, Halibut and Salmon. I even hooked a big skate. Thanks for the memories! Trying to get a group together to come back. You guys rock!! P.S. A Patch is on the way. Jim
The captain Jody let us know he was injured and Darryl his other would be our Captain for the charter. The fishing charter was simply AWESOME. With a quick two hour cruise we were pulling out halibut. Then came Pacific cod. Then the dreaded Arrow Tooth Flounder. Then onto more halibut. There was salmon shark lurking below. Through all of this excitement, Captain Darryl helped us all through it. He taught the less experienced anglers, and encouraged all of us. We caught all sorts of rock fish and only stopped because of a approaching storm. A storm in Prince William sound didn't sound like the kind of excitement any of us wanted to experience. The colony of the sea lions barking, grunting and looking cool seemed to grow quieter the more the clouds got closer. So we jetted back to Whittier and Captain Darryl was very skilled with his knives to fillet the halibut and Pacific cod. His secret method of filleting rock fish was very efficient and didn't waste any fish. We couldn't have asked for a better fishing time, boat, company or Captain. Highly Recommend this to anyone who wants to have fun time halibut and rock fishing just a short drive from Anchorage.
The crew was amazing and the trip was an unforgettable experience. Will definitely be back for another go at it later in the season.

Nothing but positive things to say all around. Incredibly friendly crew, very knowledgable and fun. We caught TONS of fish to bring home. It was one of the best fishing days of my life. I would recommend this charter to anyone!
CAPT. Darryl was great. He put us on the fish, very knowledgeable and helpful. Everyone on board caught their large halibut and we had trouble finding small ones. Lots of cod, nice weather, and beautiful views.
It was an awesome experience. Honestly we could have chose another boat but it wouldn't have been the same. When capt Jody says you're part of the family he means it. As soon as we stepped on the boat you felt right at home. He was very knowledgeable but kept it light and fun. His first mate Darrel is first class too. He hustled all day to help everyone aboard and rarely had downtime. We caught tons of fish and had a blast doing it. Captain Jody's boat is a awesome vessel too. It is a very smooth riding boat. I can become sea sick very easily and the boat and expert Captain kept every minute very smooth. Could not recommend enough!
I got off Discovery Princess at 6:15 AM. Capt. Jody was waiting for me in the parking lot for a two minute drive to the marina. It was a glorious day on the water, sea lions, whales breeching, glaciers, snow capped mountains and constant Halibut and Cod! Capt. Darryl filleted the fish and guided us to where you ship your catch home! Both men paid particular attention to the 5 year old fisherman with an electric reel who went on to catch many fish in 300 to 400’ depths. Both captains treated the fisherman like family! Great guys! Outstanding day!
