Wheeler, Oregon, is a premier fishing destination nestled along the Nehalem Bay and River, offering unparalleled access to diverse saltwater and freshwater fisheries. This coastal gem is celebrated for its abundant salmon runs, particularly fall Chinook from late June through November and Coho from August to December, drawing anglers to its rich tidal waters and river channels. Steelhead trout thrive here year-round, while the bay's fertile ecosystem supports bottomfish, sea-run cutthroat trout, and warmwater species.
The Nehalem River's unique geography—where the bay narrows into the river—creates prime fishing grounds for every style. Kayak through calm wetlands targeting trout, wade the shallows for migratory salmon, or charter a boat to explore deeper bay and oceanfront spots. Wheeler's full-service marinas provide critical amenities like fishing licenses, tackle, and crab cookers, enhancing your adventure against a backdrop of elk, eagles, and coastal forests.
Wheeler fishing charters unlock these opportunities, blending expert guidance with Oregon's raw natural beauty for an unforgettable angling experience.
