Nestled on the Ligurian Sea, Chiavari is a fantastic launchpad for anglers exploring the Gulf of Tigullio’s rich, varied waters. Sheltered coastlines and quick access to deeper grounds mean Chiavari fishing charters can tailor trips from calm nearshore outings to bluewater adventures, all with postcard views of the Riviera.
Inshore, rocky points and sandy pockets hold Mediterranean staples like Sea Bass and Bream, while reefs and drop-offs produce Dentex and Amberjack for those seeking a hard fight. As summer heats up, trolling and drifting offshore can connect you with fast pelagics, including Bonito and Albacore, with Bluefin Tuna showing in late summer and fall. Come autumn, schools of Mahi (locally called Lampuga) sweep through, and cooler months bring excellent night action for Squid.
Local captains draw on a deep tradition of seamanship, switching techniques to match the day: light tackle and spinning along the coast, bottom fishing and jigging over structure, or refined live-bait and trolling programs offshore. Steady sea conditions and short runs make this an inviting destination for families and first-timers, while the variety of seasonal targets keeps experienced anglers challenged.
Between casts, you’ll cruise past classic Riviera scenery and historic harbor towns, with the Portofino promontory and other Tigullio highlights within easy reach. With well-equipped marinas, skilled crews, and year-round opportunities, Chiavari fishing charters offer an authentic Ligurian experience where beautiful coastline and productive waters meet.
