Discover why Au Train fishing charters are a favorite on Michigan's Lake Superior shore. Set between quiet Au Train Bay and the pristine forests of the Upper Peninsula, Au Train offers quick access to cold, clear waters famed for trout and salmon. Nearshore trolling and structure-oriented tactics target Lake Trout much of the season, with opportunities for bonus Coho, Chinook, Brown Trout, and Steelhead when conditions line up. Calm days reward small-boat and family outings, while experienced crews can roam deeper contours and offshore reefs for bigger bites.
What makes Au Train stand out is its variety within minutes of the dock. Au Train River provides a scenic change of pace with cool-flow runs that attract seasonal Steelhead and resident Trout, ideal for light-tackle and fly anglers. Just inland, Au Train Lake offers classic Northwoods action for Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass, giving visitors a reliable option when Lake Superior turns rough. This mix of big-water and inland opportunities means there's almost always a productive plan, no matter the weather.
Base your trip in Au Train for quiet beaches, quick runs to productive lines, and easy proximity to Munising and Pictured Rocks. Spring brings fresh runs and hungry post-winter predators; summer delivers stable conditions and family-friendly outings; fall lights up with cool-water feeds and vibrant foliage. Local captains know when to work temperature breaks, current seams, and shoreline structure, helping you make the most of each window. If you're looking for a laid-back Upper Peninsula hub with serious multispecies potential, Au Train fishing charters deliver.
