Summer in the Region of Murcia brings prime conditions for red tuna fishing by chumming, both offshore and closer to the coast near Cartagena. Here, trolling with natural bait such as squid, mackerel, or jack rewards anglers with impressive catches including dentex and amberjack.
As autumn arrives, coastal waters come alive with bonito, mackerel, and little tunny, perfect for trolling with small lures and feathers. This season also offers excellent opportunities for catching garfish, barracudas, pomfret, and bluefish in waters between 7 and 15 meters deep, while dolphin fish (dorado) become regular visitors to local waters.
For serious deep-sea enthusiasts, the waters approximately 100 meters deep provide thrilling big game fishing. The famous 'Piedras Malas' area conceals trophy-sized forkbeards, conger eels, snappers, black spot seabream, and the striking Atlantic wreckfish. Live hermit crab proves to be the bait of choice for these deeper fishing grounds.
Local charter captains utilize state-of-the-art electric reels and specialized equipment for targeting these deep-water species. When conditions are favorable, anglers can expect remarkable variety, including grouper and other prized Mediterranean species.
The Region of Murcia fishing charters accommodate groups of various sizes, with most vessels comfortably hosting up to 8 anglers, while select boats can welcome as many as 11 passengers.
