チャーターを運営するのは、キャプテン・ジョーイ・ヴァンダイクです。彼は普通のキャプテンとは一味違います。水産養殖・農業科学の4年制大学の学位を持ち、長年にわたる豊富な釣り経験を積んだ彼が、水上での素晴らしい時間と海洋生物についての知識を提供してくれます。
乗船するのは、150馬力のホンダエンジンを搭載した24フィートのカロライナスキフ・パフォーマンスフィッシングボートです。最高巡航速度35ノットを誇るこのスピーディーなボートは、4名が快適に乗船・釣りを楽しめる十分な幅を備えています。2015年に整備された最新の電子機器と、必要な安全装備も完備しています。
キャプテン・ジョーイが案内するのは、名高いロアノーク川での冬のシマスズキ釣りです。ライトタックルを使い、産卵のためにロアノーク川を遡上する学校サイズのシマスズキを狙います。群れで移動するため、数釣りも十分期待できます。
また、冬のシャッド釣りチャーターも楽しめます。産卵のために地元の川を遡上するシャッドを、フライロッドやライトタックルで狙います。川には他にも、クラッピー、イエローパーチ、ナマズなど多彩な魚種が生息しています。

5時間釣りツアー – ウェルドン シマスズキ（午前） May 2, 2026に • 3 大人Was rainy and unusually cold for first of May, and the river was low, but the captain continuously put us on fish. Caught plenty of stripers plus a few catfish and a spotted bass. Overall, was a fun outing in spite of the conditions.

We started the morning fishing live bait in the rapids which provided non-stop action. Since I was mainly focused on fly fishing, we then moved downstream a bit and had a great time catching stripers using clousers with a 10 weight and 350 grain sinking line. I really appreciated all of Captain Joey’s advice and knowledge about this fishery. He is very experienced and knowledgeable on tactics for catching these stripers on the fly rod, artificial lures and live bait. I would definitely recommend Captain Joey VanDyke and hope I will have a chance to fish with him again.

I really enjoyed my 5 hour striped bass fishing trip with Captain Joey VanDyke. We started the morning fishing live bait in the rapids which provided non-stop action.
